In the meantime, a few of us had some fun today. There was a huge teacher recruitment fair at Cal State, San Bernardino, and we went to pass out flyers warning potential candidates that Yucaipa is not a great place to come to work right now. In the picture to the left, my vice-president Patrick and I talk to two teachers about the ongoing crisis in our district and explain how our salaries are now the lowest in the area.

It was very empowering to do this. We're hoping, of course, that our district will realize that it's not going to attract the cheaper teachers it wants to replace our talented veterans, and will think more about paying us a fair competitive salary.

Good luck Cyndi! It's a shame how low the teachers are paid in your country (from what i see on oprah, it's my only resource lol) Teachers deserve a lot more, they are such important people!
Thanks for keeping up informed. As a fellow educator, I always find it informative to know what is going on in other areas, from those outside the central offices....
You go girl. Nothing like standing up for yourself!!
