Jack Says I"m Like this Pincushion Plant

He recently gave me this plant, and says it reminded him of me. He says I get "stuck" and "poked" and "needled" as president of YCEA. I've never seen a plant like this. It's botanical name is Nertera granadensis. The little "pins" are berries. I have a "black thumb," so DH has taken over its care and feeding, and so far it seems to be doing quite well.

Very interesting. I don't think I've ever seen this plant either. 40 years! I am not going to make it that long, I can tell you right now.

What an unusual plant! It looks so intersting! Since there is a seed packet there, did he start this from seed?

Knowing Jack, he bought it already grown. You can buy them at department stores like K-Mart around Halloween.

Cute. But I guess you don't eat it, eh?

Well, cookiecrumb, it is edible, though its edibility rating is a 1 on a 1-5 scale (though I don't know what that means.)
